Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask before they book. If you cannot find it here, call or email and we will answer quickly.
Booking
How do I book?
Click Book your cruise anywhere on this site. You will land on our booking calendar. Pick a date and time, choose Full boat (whether you have 6 people or 16), fill in your contact details and pay. If you did not reach the payment step, you most likely do not have a reservation. You will get a confirmation email with everything you need.
How much does it cost?
A full boat is $450 Monday to Thursday and $530 Friday to Sunday, for up to 16 guests and 90 minutes on the water. Individual seats are $40 on select Fridays and Sundays. See the pricing page for what is included.
I have a gift certificate or a discount code. Where do I enter it?
On the booking calendar, click the blue link above the guest count to open the code field, then enter your code before you pay.
I do not have 16 people. Can I still rent the whole boat?
Yes. We recommend at least 6 people so there are enough legs to pedal, but the boat is yours either way. Individual seats are also available on select Fridays and Sundays.
What if I have more than 16 people?
Talk to Marcella about a dueling tour. Tour on Orion's boat carries up to 12 more guests, so 16 people pedal on the Pedal Boat Pub while 12 lounge on the second boat. Both boats leave and return from Green's Park. Please arrange this as far in advance as you can.
Can I book the boat for a whole day or a special event?
Yes. For all-day events and special requests, call (248) 621-2288 or email pedalboatpub@gmail.com.
Can we get married on the boat?
Yes. We offer customised ceremony packages with Captain Cody James Stauber. Ask for details.
On the day
How long is a cruise?
Ninety minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes early. You are welcome to book more than one time slot back to back.
Where do we meet?
All cruises start and end at Green's Park, 66 S. Park Boulevard, Lake Orion. A Pedal Boat Pub crew member meets you in the parking lot.
What is the deal with alcohol at Green's Park?
Green's Park is an alcohol-free park, so guests cannot carry alcohol through it. Our crew member meets you in the parking lot and carries your drinks to the boat in our party wagon. Please do not walk into the park with alcohol.
What should we bring?
Your favourite snacks and drinks, a phone for music if you want your own playlist, sunscreen, sunglasses, photo ID if you plan to drink, and a swimsuit and towel if you fancy a dip. We provide the ice and the coolers.
Do I need my own cooler and ice?
No. A self-serve cooler runs down the middle of the bar and we fill it with ice. You are welcome to bring your own cooler too. If you do, park that car at Green's Park so it is a short carry.
Do I have to sign anything?
Yes, a short waiver before departure. Sign it online ahead of time, or on the party bus before we set sail. A legal guardian signs for anyone under 18.
On board
Will there be a captain?
Every cruise has a captain and a first mate. They are trained for your safety and your fun.
What about music?
We have playlists ready on our own devices, and you are welcome to bring your own over Bluetooth or the aux cord. Please keep it to clean versions.
Is there a bathroom?
Yes. There is a portable toilet on board for emergencies. It gets used on most cruises and is cleaned between every one.
Can we swim?
On a hot day we can stop so you can jump in and cool off, whenever the captain says it is safe. Bring a swimsuit and a towel.
Do you provide life jackets?
Yes, for every adult and child on board. Wearing them is optional for adults.
Can I come if I am under 21?
Yes. You must be 21 with ID to drink alcohol. Anyone under 18 needs a legal guardian to sign the waiver.
Is alcohol sold on the boat?
No. You bring your own food and drinks, and we keep them cold. Nothing is sold on board.
Weather and cancellations
It is raining. Are we still going out?
Light rain, yes. A collapsible canopy covers the bar. If there is thunder, lightning or heavy wind, the captain will cancel for safety. If we cancel, we reschedule you for free or refund the booking minus $50.
What is the cancellation policy?
Reservations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. We reserve the right to cancel any cruise for weather, safety, mechanical or behaviour reasons. Weather cancellations are rescheduled free or refunded minus $50. No refunds for no-shows or behaviour-related cancellations.
Parking
How does parking work at Green's Park?
A maximum of four cars from your group can park at Green's Park, and those four spots are not always available when the park has other events on. Please carpool, and give the Green's Park spots to anyone who needs step-free access or is carrying heavy coolers and bags.
Where do the rest of the cars go?
Monday to Friday for 12, 2 and 4 o'clock cruises, use downtown public parking. After 5pm, guests may park at the PNC Bank lot, 88 W. Flint Street. Saturday 12 o'clock cruises use downtown public parking, and after 1pm the PNC Bank lot. On Sundays, extra parking is kitty-corner across the street at the PNC Bank lot, just north of Flint Street on the east side.
Is there a map of the public parking?
Yes. The Downtown Lake Orion parking map shows every public lot. Green's Park is marked P8. Open the downtown parking map.
What happens on Lake Orion fireworks night, Brave the Wave and Dragon on the Lake?
No cars can park at Green's Park on those nights. The Pedal Boat Pub party bus picks up guests at CVS / Rio on Main, 305 S. Broadway Street, Lake Orion. Check your confirmation email for the details.
